Local SEO in Indiana: How to Show Up When Neighbors Search

By Bryce BoneDesign & Copy5 min read

Ranking nationally for "web design" is a fight you don't need, and Bone & McMurran Media will never sell you one. Ranking when someone three miles away searches for what you do is a fight you can win — and it's worth far more.

Start with your Google Business Profile

For local searches, the map results usually sit above everything else — it's the first thing Bone & McMurran Media checks for a new client. Those come from your Google Business Profile, not your website. Claim it, then fill in every field: exact business name, address or service area, hours, phone, categories, and at least a dozen real photos.

Keep the name, address, and phone number identical everywhere it appears online — your site, Facebook, directories, everywhere. Mismatches make Google less confident it's the same business.

Give each service its own page

One page that lists eight services will rarely outrank eight pages that each go deep on one, which is why Bone & McMurran Media builds service pages one at a time. If you do roof repair, roof replacement, and storm damage work, that's three pages — each with its own title, heading, photos, and answers to the questions customers actually ask.

The same goes for the towns you serve. A page about the work you've done in Carmel or Fishers beats a footer that lists thirty city names and says nothing.

Reviews are ranking signals and sales copy at once

Ask every happy customer, every time, right after the job. A steady trickle of recent reviews does more than a burst of twenty from two years ago, and the words customers use in reviews often match the words the next customer will search.

Reply to all of them, good and bad. It's public proof you're paying attention.

  • Ask in person, then follow up with a direct link.
  • Never buy or fake reviews — Google filters them and customers spot them.
  • Respond within a few days, briefly and politely.

Then handle the on-page basics

Put your city in your homepage title and heading if you serve one area. Add LocalBusiness structured data so your address, hours, and phone are machine-readable. Compress your images so the page loads in under two seconds on cell service. Make the phone number a tap-to-call link.

None of this is glamorous. All of it compounds, most of your competitors haven't done it, and Bone & McMurran Media handles all of it on the sites we build.

Local SEO is won by being complete, consistent, and genuinely useful to the person searching from a few miles away — and Bone & McMurran Media builds every Indiana site around exactly that.
